Prove that you are not some greenhorn, but a true Archon!

Will new moon come soon? By just glancing at the picture, every experienced Archon can figure that out.

1,000 Drachmas will go to one of the Archons to give the correct answer!

The waning crescent reflected in the water means that a new moon will come soon.

No, it will NOT come soon.

It is a waxing cresent, not a waning crescent, because reflection inverts the image. The new moon has just passed, and will not come until the full cycle is completed again.

Reflected image is inverted but NOT reversed. Moon is waning.

No, because Sparta is located in the northern hemisphere, so that image corresponds to the first crescent of the moon, ie, the phase after the New Moon.

The moon is waxing, not waning. If you were in Sparta at that time and looked up, the crescent would be on the right side. The water inverts the image of the moon. This is the phase after the new moon
