Elixirs question

Hello,

I looked in the forum for any explanation about elixir but I couldnt find (except one answer telling to ask support lol) so I decided to post:


First of all: I checked the problem with my coallition mates and all of them have the same problem

Elixirs are not working or I dont understand how they work. I have 3 defense elixirs activated but the bonus for elixir doesnt work in my troops, I have bonus in some troops and nothing in others, and the % applied doesnt match with any of them

So could anyone explain me why? I would apreciate.

Hy  mate ..go and check on the defensive troups if u have them...  check the picture below for  what to  watch for

Hello Archon,

So let me explain to you how elixirs work.

Let's take this elixir for example



So, as you can see, this is a level 10 elixir for defensive cavalry units (Mounted Peltasts and Legate that is).

Once you have that placed in any of your slots it will directly give your units the following extra defense:

+23% against light infantry units

+18.4% against heavy infantry units

+10.4% against phalanx units

and +8% against cavalry units.

But those bonuses apply only when you have the elixirs placed at one of the cache's slot.

Otherwise no bonus will be applied.

Or you can easily do what Zsolt mentioned above if you have the elixir activated.

I don't have that particular elixir activated so it's not shown on my defensive cavalry statistics.

I have a follow up question on this.


I have 3 defensive elixirs activated. 


But when I check my units in the build buildings, only ONE of the bonuses are mentioned in the pop up tool tip. And its not the first in order of the 3 slots in the elixier set up. And its not the highest bonus of the ones activated. 


My question is now WHY is that one shown but not the others? Do more than one defensive elixir stack, or should you just go with one, and pick 2 offensive aside? Can anyone figure out why it that one particular bonus that is shown and not the other ones?


This is a total mystery to me.

Not sure I understand your question actually.

Could you show us a screenshot so what we can see what elixirs you have activated and therefore help you further?

Personally I have only offensive elixirs at the moment but as I can see they are all working fine for me.

Well first off it doesnt matter which 3 out of 4 different defensive (green) elixirs I have installed when the question is if they stack or not. It could be ANY 3 defensive ones and the question is the same.


Also the issue does not arise at all if you have equipped offensive (red) elixirs since they only increase 1 (one) attribute each, and therefore never can stack.


If you have 3 elixirs  that increase the SAME stat (only possible with DEFENSIVE ones), (fx light/heavy infantry defense) do they stack or is just one used? Any tooltip you can find in the game (no matter on screenshot or not) only shows 1 (ONE) bonus, where there really ought to show 3 (one for each elixir). 

I cant make the question more obvious, screen shot or not.

Hi Henrik,


The elixirs you activate never stack.
There are 4 classes of units Light Infantry, Heavy Infantry, Phalanx and Cavalry. For them, there are 8 elixirs in total, 2 for each class' defense and offense stats. You can activate 3 at a time.


So we have 4 types of defensive elixirs. 1 each for Light, Heavy, Phalanx and Cavalry. When you activate the light infantry elixir it would boost the defense stats of only light infantry units like javelineers, psilios, swordsmen. The same applies for other classes.


The defense stats of the units unlike the offensive stats have different defending stats against the 4 classes of units. For example, javelineer has 20 defense each against light and heavy infantry and 18 against phalanx and cavalry. The elixir unlike dominion, capital, pantheon, city etc. gives different bonus to each stat. For example. an elixir might give 2% for light 3% each for heavy and phalanx and 4% for cavalry but the other defensive boosts stated before apply uniformly to all the 4 stats for example, 25% pantheon level 5 defense boost would increase the defense stats of a javelineer uniformly by 25%.



So when you select your unit, you would see the boost of only one elixir which boosts the stats of the particular class of unit you selected.
