Arena Defense Guide for Beginners

Hello, I have played Raid Shadow Legends for a few months.

I was once a Bronze Player!

I struggled with Arena as a beginner.

I had a mission which said to reach Silver 1!

The mission seemed impossible for me!

I went searching for help with Arena!

I watched a lot of YouTube Video’s on Arena.

I read a lot of reddit post about Arena.

In all my searches, I found detailed information explaining Arena Offense set ups.

I struggled finding any clear detailed information regarding Arena Defense.

I still haven’t found any information about Arena Defense.

I consider myself an Intermediate Raid Shadow Player.

I still can’t seem to find anything good about Arena Defense.

It seems to me all the very good Arena players are not sharing Arena Defense knowledge!

They are keeping it all to themselves!

They don’t want anyone else to know so they can dominate forever!

I don’t know why we don’t have more information on Arena Defense set ups!

However, I am going to share what I have learned.

I am breaking the silence!

If they hate me, I don’t care.

I want to put this information out into a guide because I wish I had the information when I was a beginner.

I never found Arena Defense Guides.

I had to learn it my own way.

So today I am going to try and break down Arena Defense in 6 simple steps!

STEP 1 - Understanding Arena Offense Philosophy vs. Arena Defense Philosophy

The Arena Offense Philosophy is designed to be extremely fast + hit extremely hard.

Arena Offense teams often sacrifice defense + long term survival for quick burst Knock Out Blows!

WHICH ULTIMATELY LEADS US TO ARENA DEFENSE PHILOSOPHY

The Arena Defense Philosophy was designed to counter the Arena Offense strategy by using it against them!

Arena Defense teams often sacrifice the need of going first in exchange for long term survivability.

THIS IS WHAT LEADS TO THE ULTIMATE SHOWDOWN!

A battle of 2 opposing sides

One side Built for Speed & Attack

Another side Built for Endurance & Defense

The unstoppable force clashing vs. the immovable object!

STEP 2 - Team Leader Aura’s = Defense - Resistance - Speed

I believe the Ideal Aura for an Arena Defense Team is going to be Defense.

You want your Arena Defense heroes to be able to withstand your opponent’s onslaught!

The more defense you have, The harder it is for enemy to kill you.

Alternatively, I have seen people use Resist & Speed Aura’s on Defense Teams.

They are other valid Aura’s!

Resist & Speed can be helpful on certain Defense Teams.

The goal would be to have a hero with 1 of the 3 above Aura’s as your Leader!

STEP 3 - Hero with a Counter Attack Buff

Based on the Defenders Philosophy, It stands to reason that the opponent hero will be faster!

The goal is to be able to use the opponent own moment (Speed) against them.

You want to be able to hit the opponent while it is there turn as well as your turn!

STEP 4 - Hero with Healing, Shielding or Block Damage mitigation

You are going to get hit.

You need a way to heal the damage, shield the damage, or block the damage.

Remember, the Philosophy’s of Arena!

  • Arena Offense teams are trying to finish you fast
  • Arena Defense teams are trying to draw out the fight.
The shorter the fight the more it favors Arena Offense.

The longer the fight the more it favors Arena Defense.

Healing, Shielding, or Blocking Damage gives your team the edge in a prolong fight because you give yourself sustainability!

This is critical in an Arena Defense set up!

STEP 5 - Hero with Resurrection

Your opponent is going to hit you first!

Your opponent is going to hit you hard!

We may not wish to admit it, but we might suffer causalities!

We might lose some hero’s in the struggle!

Even the strongest hero in the game can succumb under the intense pressure!

We need a way to bring hero’s from the dead back alive!

This is key to our teams survival!

STEP 6 - Hero with Status Effects or Status Gear

Have you ever lost an Arena fight because your hero got froze, stun, or poison?

COMPLETELY FRUSTRATING ISN'T IT?

Well my friends you are only frustration because you was on the attacking side!

This is the Arena Defense Guide and you are on the defense side!

Your goal is to kill those Arena Offense hero’s and that means killing them any way you can!

Freezing them, Poisoning them, Stunning them, Burning them, Stabbing them, DROPPING A BIG ROCK ON THERE HEAD!

What ever it takes to bring them down is what your going to do!

And if the attacker doesn’t like it, they shouldn’t have attacked you!

I pity the fool who thought he could beat you!

Hopefully, after reading my 6 steps, you have a better understanding on how to build your Arena Defense team!

The next thing I want to do in this Guide is give a Beginner Defensive Team Set Up!

The heroes I am going to recommend are super easy to acquire!

The Beginner Arena Defense Team = Jizoh, Shaman, War Priest, & Executioner.

A quick run down on why I am choosing these hero’s!

  • Jizoh - Can place Counter Attack’s on single Ally -  Following Step 3
Not many hero’s in the beginning of the game have the ability to put Counter Attacks on other Allies!

Jizoh is one of the very few in the beginning of the game who can place Counter Attacking buffs!

Jizoh is also very easy to get!

You can get Jizoh as a Daily Login reward on 14th day!

  • Shaman - Can Revive a Dead Ally - Following Step 5
Not many heroes in the beginning of the game have the ability to resurrect fallen Allies!

It can be very tough getting someone else to replace Shaman!

You would have to get very lucky on a shard pull.

The good thing is Shaman is easy to get!

You can get Shaman as Daily Login reward on the 7th day!

  • WarPriest - Heals Damage - Following Step 4

You can get War Priest in the Campaign.

War Priest is a great early game healer!

War Priest can help keep your team living long enough to outlast your opponent team!

  • Executioner - Hero with Status Effect (Stun) + Defense Aura - Following Step 2 & 6

You can get Executioner by farming the Campaign Chapter 11.

Executioner is a great hero to have in general!

Executioner is considered to be a top 10 Rare hero for good reason!

Executioner is a great Campaign Farmer!

Executioner is great for Arena Defense!

Final Thoughts - My overall goal in this Guide has been to help educate beginners + start them off with an Arena Defense Team.

The Arena Defense Team I showed gives everyone an opportunity to start off fresh!

You don’t need to be rich to get the above team.

You don’t need insane shard summoning luck.

You only need time & effort.

I will admit the above team I showed isn’t the greatest Arena Defense Team in the world.

I never meant for it to be the greatest!

A lot of hero’s in the game are better than the heroes I recommend in my set up.

The problem is it is a lot harder to get the better hero’s.

The positive thing to keep in mind is the team I am showing you has growth potential!

You can always replace hero’s with better ones which you might pick up later.

I can give you a few examples so you can see what I mean!

  • Shaman - Can Resurrect 1 Dead Ally!

Gorgorab - Can Resurrect All Dead Ally’s!

Arbiter - Can Resurrect All Dead Ally’s + fill turn meter!

  • Jizoh - Can Place Counter Attack on 1 Ally.

Martyr - Can Place Counter Attack on All Allies.

  • War Priest - Can Heal 10%

St. Nicolas - Can Heal more

Bad-El-Kazan - Can Heal more

Roshcard the Tower - Can Place Damage Block instead of Heal

Do you see how the Steps(Concepts) remain the same, but the hero’s can change?

Thank you!

Have a nice day!

Quick Update:

A few people have tried my Arena Defense Set Up!

I have got positive feedback from there test!

They have given me a few suggestions + asked a few questions which I would like to answer here.

Suggestion 1:

A few people couldn’t get Executioner!

Executioner Drops in Campaign Chapter 11 which is sort of at the end of the Campaign.

They couldn’t get to Chapter 11 very easy.

Instead of using Executioner, they used a hero named “Templar” who is Drops in Campaign Chapter 8.

Templar seems to be a valid alternative hero!

Templar is defense hero with a Block Damage Buff!

In addition, Templar is an excellent hero to Farm the Dragon Dungeon!

Templar seems like a useful replacement hero which people have tried with some success!

The only downside to having Templar vs. Executioner is the loss of Defense Team Aura.

Templar has a Resist Aura which isn’t completely bad, but I do think the Defense Aura will be missed!

People have tried it.

They seem to be doing ok with it so it might be decent alternative option!

Suggestion 2:

A few people asked me if they should invest Epic Tomes in Shaman or Jizoh.

My recommendation is to SAVE your Epic Tomes.

Shaman & Jizoh are great starting heroes, but I think they will get replaced down the road.

You can level up Shaman & Jizoh!

You can ascend Shaman & Jizoh!

BUT DON’T INVEST TOMES!

You can always get more energy to Farm XP!

You can always get more potions to Ascend Other Heroes!

Epic Tomes are not easy to get so keep them safe!

Suggestion 3:

A player on my team gave me another valid option which I believe is worth noting!

The option my teammate gave was to not even worry about an Arena Defense.

My teammate said he was just going to put a level 1 hero on Arena Defense  or put his Arena Offensive team on Arena Defense.

He believes it is to time consuming to worry about an Arena Defense.

He said he would rather focus on his Clan Boss team.

Truthfully, It is a valid option!

It could be time consuming to make a Clan Boss Team + Arena Offense Team + Arena Defense Team!

You might feel like you don’t have the necessary resources to do them all!

Focusing your efforts + resources on 1 team vs. 3 separate teams could be very beneficial, but it does hurt other area’s.

It is a trade off!

As long as you are ok with your decision, I see no problem with this strategy.

It seems completely valid to me!

The game is a strategy game.

Chose a strategy which is reasonable & valid that works for you.

This is why I wanted to mention it in this update!

These are a few suggestions which I have been given.

If any more feedback come up, I will let you know.

Thank You for your time!

And have fun Arena Raiding!

LET US REASON TOGETHER!

Ladies & Gentlemen, I have been using the above team for an entire week.

I haven’t lost many fights.

However, I got into an argument yesterday with several other Raid Shadow Players!

They told me my Arena Defense Team is horrible!

They said my team was utter trash.

They said they was going to beat my team to the ground!

But is my team really trash? 😏

DUN DUN DUN!

I think there is more going on here than meets the eye!

My team has been lvl 50 for week.

Yesterday, I 6 starred my Seducer who as you can see isn’t maxed leveled.

The question you have to ask yourself is do you feel lucky?

Now remember the majority of my team is lvl 50.

The majority of your team would have to be lvl 50.

Do you think if you saw this team in Arena.

You would Attack it or Skip past it?

Take a closer look at the team. 🧐

Leader: Executioner - Defense Aura 17%

1st move: Gorgorab - Turn Meter Filler, Mild Team Healer, & Team Resurrector

2nd move: Apothecary - Turn Meter Filler & Single Target Healer

3rd move: Seducer - Sleeper, Attack Down, Block Debuffs, & Increase Defense

4th move: Executioner - Counter Attack, Stun, & Enemy Turn Meter Decrease

Doesn’t that sound like a fun team to fight against?

  • I’m decreasing your attack power.
  • I’m increasing my defense power.
  • I’m Healing any of the Damage.
  • I’m Reviving anyone who dies.
  • I’m increasing my Turn Meter.
  • I’m decreasing your Turn Meter.
  • I’m Stunning you.
  • I’m Sleeping you.
  • And I put Toxic set on my Seducer so he can Poison you.
  • I could put Freeze set on my Seducer to Freeze you.
  • Would you prefer the Freeze or Poison?

Than I am wrapping that entire package deal with an extra 17% defense to make my team even that much more annoying to take down!

OH, YEAH!

COME AT ME BRO!

You know what?

Now that I had a chance to think about it.

I don’t think I got attacked in Arena that much this week.

I wonder why?

Do you think it could be bug? 😁

If you are doing well then stick with your team. I have not read everything what was written, but by the look of your team I am guessing that you are speed and accuracy oriented.  People with a bit of hp and resistance aura will demolish you, but not many are using these setups.

The only thing you are doing wrong with that setup is Apo should go first before Gor, as his base speed is faster. So, as the times goes you need to fix it, to go first. My appo has 265+ speed at gold IV, but I  can do better, just beong unlucky with drops.

I know it may be early for you, but consider to eventually swapping seducer for a serious debuffer. I think he is your weakest point atm.

The usual speed builds consists of Apo, Gor, zargala or tayrel to decrease def, and one aoe killer. So, congrats becasue you already have half of the pro team.

Watch incredible john on YouTube, he will walk you through masteries. He is quite consistent with the route I have choosen.

Good hunting!

Quick Update:

I would like to share a General Arena Template I use!

The Arena Template I use is the following:

Arena Offense:

  • Leader: Speed Aura
  • 1st move: Turn Meter Filler
  • 2nd move: Increase Attack
  • 3rd move: Decrease Enemy Defense or Remove Enemy Buffs
  • 4th move: AOE Damage Dealer

Arena Defense: 5 Different Types

Type 1 - A Speed + Heavy Hit Set up used on Defense.

  • Leader: Speed Aura
  • 1st move: Turn Meter Filler
  • 2nd move: Increase Attack
  • 3rd move: Decrease Enemy Defense or Remove Enemy Buffs
  • 4th move: AOE Damage Dealing Attacker

^^ The Above defending set up has a Lord Shazar - Prince Kymar type of Lead with Massive AOE Nuker in background like Rae.

They move fast and try to destroy you.

Type 2 - A Speed + Block Damage Set up used on Defense.

  • Leader: Speed Aura
  • 1st move: Turn Meter Filler
  • 2nd move: Increase Attack
  • 3rd move: Block Damage Buff
  • 4th move: AOE Damage Dealing Attacker

^^ The Above defending set up is similar to first set up with a Lord Shazar - Prince Kymar type of Lead + Rae Damage Dealer, BUT they add in a Block Damage hero like Roshcard the Tower.

It is a very interesting variation!

Type 3 - A Defense + Bulky Set Up used on Defense.

  • Leader: Defense Aura or Resistance Aura
  • 1st move: Turn Meter Filler or Speed Buffer
  • 2nd move: Reflect Damage or Counter-Attacker
  • 3rd move: Healer or Resurrector
  • 4th move: AOE Damage Dealing Defender

^^ The Above defending set up has a Maytr - Seeker type of lead with Massive AOE Defender in background like Rhazin ScarHide.

They move slower, BUT they try to destroy you with counter-attacking.

Type 4 - A HP + Status Effect Set Up used on Defense.

  • Leader: Defense Aura, HP Aura, Resist Aura or Accuracy Aura
  • 1st move: Turn Meter Filler
  • 2nd move: Shield or Block Damage
  • 3rd move: AOE Status Effect Dealer
  • 4th move: Self-Sustainable Healer or Shielder

^^ The Above defending set up has a St. Nicolas - Bloodtwin type of lead with a Self-Sustainable hero in background like Reinbeast or Lich.

They move slower, BUT they try to force you to quit the battle due to not being able to beat them in a 30+ min fights.

Type 5 - A De-Ranking Set Up used in Defense.

  • Leader: No Aura
  • 1st move: Level 1 hero

^^ The Above set up tries to lose rating points so their Arena Offense Team has easier Rival teams to face.

These are the different strategies I have seen in Arena so far.

Good hunting!

You are correct my Apothecary is slow.

I haven’t had enough silver to upgrade my Apothecary gear.

In addition, I got High Khatun from Daily login.

I have been thinking about running full speed on both High Khatun + Apothecary.

The problem is I don’t have enough speed Gear.

I need to do some major gear farming.

I need to do some major gear upgrading.

I also got some good heroes from summoning event.

I got several heroes to gear which is a good thing.

Nevertheless, I would like to thank you for your advice + tips + strategies.

This is an Arena Guide dedicated to learning new defensive strategies + helping people get better at arena.

Arena can be a struggle!

Quick Update:

I have a sneak peek exclusive for everyone!

You will not believe the heroes I pulled in the last Summoning Event!

It was an amazing pull!

The hero I am most excited about is Temptress!

It might seem strange for me to be excited about Temptress. LOL

However, I have been waiting to do the Seducer + Temptress Undead Duo for a while.

I got some new defense strategies in the works.

I got another picture to show you.

UNDEAD FACTION WAR TEAM?

You have to admit the Temptress + Seducer side by side in the picture does look sweet!

Most of the heroes are rare.

It might be easy for people to get the above heroes for when Faction Wars Begin!

The game hasn’t said when Faction Wars will be released.

They did say it was coming down the pipeline.

Nevertheless, I am a huge Undead Faction Fan!

I like the idea of theory crafting Undead Faction teams which could be successful.

My team is still low level.

I put all 4 of the above hero’s in Brutal 12-3.

I wanted to see how they would do as a team on auto.

It seemed to go surprisingly well.

The above team did beat brutal.

The order they went in + skills they did first is the following:

  • 1st move: Gorgorab - Resurgent - Turn Meter Fill + Increase Atk 50%
  • 2nd move: Seducer - Selfless Partner - 50% Ally Protection Buff + Block Damage on Seducer
  • 3rd move: Grinner - Bile - Attack’s 1 enemy
  • 4th move: Temptress - Vicious Partner - Increases Atk 50% + Increase Crit Rate 30% + Gets Extra Turn
  • 5th move: Temptress - Flying Dagger - Attack 4 at random + 50% chance to place Leech

This is what I observed.

I like most of my heroes moves except Grinner.

The good thing about Grinner is Force Affinity + Bile is Grinner A1 hit.

The reason this is important is because Force Affinity hero’s on auto like to attack Magic hero’s which most people have.

I’m thinking of putting the Mastery Evil Eye on Grinner.

It should jack up a rival enemy team.

I’m going to have to fix the speed levels on my team to find the proper order I want them to move in.

I think Grinner needs to be at like 250+ speed.

Seeker would probably be better than Grinner.

The sad part is I don’t own Seeker.

The only thing I saw which was a little suspicious was my Temptress.

My Temptress was a little to squishy.

I’m not sure what gear is best on her.

I have following gear on my Temptress.

  • 2 piece Cruel
  • 2 piece Immortal
  • 2 piece Crit Damage

I will keep testing stuff out.

The gear isn’t really upgraded that much so maybe she will be better with more upgrades.

Quick Update:

I have a Defense to show you peeps!

It is a defense I fought against.

The fight came down to the wire!

My opponent was using following team composition:

Broadmaw: Defense Aura 33% + Speed Buff + Resurrection

Skullcrusher: Counter Attack

Thenasil: Strong Healer

Reinbeast: I believe this particular Reinbeast was designed to be Tank. I believe the guy in this fight had Def % Gloves + Def % Chest.

I believe the guy had a Type 3 - Arena Defense Set Up!

Leader: Defense or Resist Aura

1st move: Turn Meter Filler or Speed Buffer

2nd move: Reflect Damage or Counter Attacker

3rd move: Healer or Resurrector

4th move: AOE Defense Type Damage Dealer

I believe the player in question was going for the Type 3 Arena Defense set up.

I do think a few mistakes were made on his part which ultimately lead me to win.

I don’t think Reinbeast is ideal in the above set up.

Reinbeast has no AOE hits.

My opponent Reinbeast in fight kept targeting my Kael.

Reinbeast is single target hitter.

Reinbeast would Hit my Kael.

However, my Gorgorab was ignored, All I had to do is Revive my Kael over and over.

If my opponent had an AOE Hit, My opponent might of had better chance to kill both my Kael + Gorgorab a lot sooner.

The next mistake my opponent made is his team isn’t fully ascended to 3 stars.

You can see my opponent is missing a lot of potions.

He is lacking 3 star ascension on several hero’s.

This effects his skills hugely.

I think it is worth showing because a lot of people think Speed Aura’s are Absolute King in Arena.

They think any Aura other than Speed is useless.

The fact of the matter is there are some really good Arena Defense teams out there not using Speed Aura’s.

Team Synergy + Team Composition is what matters the most.

Some teams rely on a Speed Aura.

Some teams rely on a Defense Aura.

Some teams rely on a Resist Aura.

I think capturing screenshots of these teams can be very helpful.

It can help us gain insight on new strategies + new counter strategy.

It can be very hard beating a team in which you don’t understand.

The more information you have.

The more possibilities you have to counter them.

Quick Update:

I have more defense set ups to show you!

Type 4 - A HP + Status Effect Set Up used on Defense.

Leader: Defense Aura, HP Aura, Resist Aura or Accuracy Aura

1st move: Turn Meter Filler

2nd move: Shield or Block Damage

3rd move: AOE or Single Target Status Effect Dealer

4th move: Self-Sustainable Healer or Shielder

We can see the above player chose the Type 4 set up with a Resist Aura!

It is completely new idea!

I am going to add the new Aura under the list of possible Aura’s for Type 4!

My Gosh, I was totally crushed!

Let’s do the First Turn Player Team Break Down:

Leader - Zelotah - Resist Aura

1st move: Gorgorab - Turn Meter Filler

2nd move: Zelotah - Shield + Continues Heal Buff

3rd move: Executioner - Counter Attack + Increase Defense

4th move: Reinbeast - Single Attack

  • I believe Executioner is the Status Effect hero who is using his Stun.

The players Executioner was hitting like a hammer, guys.

  • I believe Reinbeast is the Self-Sustain Hero.

I believe the reason I lost the fight was because of Zelotah Healing!

I was focusing my killing efforts on Gorgorab.

The problem was the Gorgorab was Tanky.

I couldn’t kill the Gorgorab fast enough.

The Zelotah kept shielding + healing him back up!

The Gorgorab looks to have had an Immortal Set.

I saw him doing Heals on his turn + one of his skills does a heal.

Look at the amount of Green Healing coming from Zelotah + Gorgorab!

Can you see why I was totally creamed!

There is only 1 thing to do when you get crushed!

You have to fight again!

Round 2: I wiser this time!

Look how I took them out!

The 2nd time around I focused on the Zelotah!

The Zelotah is lvl 50 so I focused my Attack on killing him.

It worked!

The Gorgorab did Revive Zelotah, but than I killed Zelotah again!

The key to my victory I think!

I was able to neutralize the Zelotah which helped make his Gorgorab weaker.

This allowed me to take command of the battle to win!

Look at the healing numbers for Zelotah & Gorgorab compared to last time!

Look at my Kael Attack numbers!

I had my Kael on mission to take them out!

Awesome Defensive Team Strategy my opponent has!

Awesome Team Focus Changing Strategy on my part!

Taking down a player with 10k more power! 💪

Quick Update:

Look at the annoying team composition I battle against today!

Use my failures to help you succeed to be a better player!

My Gosh this fight was horrible!

Type 4 - A HP + Status Effect Set Up used on Defense.

Leader: Defense Aura, HP Aura, Resist Aura or Accuracy Aura

1st move: Turn Meter Filler

2nd move: Shield or Block Damage

3rd move: AOE Status Effect Dealer

4th move: Self-Sustainable Healer or Shielder

My Team is using a Speed Aura.

My Team by Default should be faster vs. Enemy team.

The Enemy Team I’m facing isn’t using a Speed Aura so they shouldn’t go first unless my gear isn’t good enough.

In this fight, I went first which is what should normally happen.

My Team did the following moves:

Leader: Gorgorab - Speed Aura

1st move: Gorgorab - Turn Meter + Increase Atk

2nd move: Spider - Decrease Def

3rd move: Kael - AOE Damage Hit

4th move: Seducer - AOE Damage Hit + Atk Down

Sometimes, I use Seducer alternative skill if the person I’m fighting has annoying Debuffs

4th move: Seducer - Block Debuffs + Increase Defense

My opponent in this particular fight doesn’t have any Debuffs so I went with the AOE Damage Skill.

After I did my 2 AOE hits, My opponent Kael was wipe out + enemy team suffered damage.

My opponent turn is below.

Let’s do the First Turn Break Down for my Opponent.

Leader: Kael - Health Aura

1st move: Apothecary - Turn Meter

2nd move: Thenasil - Increase Def + Heal

3rd move: Lich - Single Target Deplete Enemy Turn Meter

4th move: Kael - Dead

My Opponent Team Strategy:

Absorb my initial hits.

Heal off my Damage

Wear my team down.

I lost because I couldn’t do enough damage to kill them + I couldn’t stop there Healing.

My Opponent Team Mistakes or Weakness:

A potential mistake my opponent is doing is having Kael on the team.

Kael is an Attack Type hero on a team designed to absorb hits.

Kael is meant to deal hits, not take hits.

I believe my opponent is using Kael for the Health Aura.

The Health Aura helps this fellow teammates over all performance because they heal based on total health.

More HP, Better Heals!

The issue is my opponent should look for an alternative Hero with a Health Aura.

Kael Aura is Great, but Kael isn’t the right fit for this team.

Now, we fully understand my opponent team composition.

The major downside or weakness to my opponent team is HEAL REDUCTION OR BLOCKING.

My opponent beat me because I didn’t have the proper counters.

The way to beat a team like this is to stop there Healing.

Quick Update:

Today, I would like to share an Arena Defense Team by a Gold 4 Raid Shadow Player + teach players about hero move orders.

The player who owns the super cool Arena Defense we will be looking at is name “TSwift”.

TSwift shared her Arena set up with people on the Official Raid Discord Channel.

TSwift likes to hang out in the Discord.

You can talk with her there.

TSwift Arena Defense Team:

Leader: Lyssandra - Speed Aura

1st move: Nethril - AOE Enemy Turn Meter Down

2nd move: Lyssandra - Turn Meter Fill

3rd move: Big Un - AOE Devastation Hit

4th move: Cruetraxa - Single Target

This is TSwifts Team + move order in Arena Gold 4.

TSwift was talking about her team!

Than all of a sudden an interesting discussion happened!

We started thinking about TSwift move order!

Do you notice anything strange about it?

Well, actually, the move order isn’t ideal!

The correct move order is the following:

1st move: Lyssandra - Turn Meter Fill

2nd move: Big Un - AOE Devastation Hit

3rd move: Nethril - AOE Enemy Turn Meter Down

4th move: Cruetraxa - Single Target

Today’s Discussion is about.

  • Why the above move order is right.
  • Why the previous move order is wrong
  • Why does TSwift have her move order in this way (Obviously, she has good reason she is Gold 4 player)

The reason the above move order is right is based on a heroes Base Speed + to lesser extent Hero Skill’s.

So let me give you a quick break down of the 4 heroes base speed.

  • Lyssandra Base Speed = 110
  • Big Un Base Speed = 104
  • Nethril Base Speed = 94
  • Cruetraxa Base Speed = 99

You can see Nethril Base Speed is the lowest, BUT TSwift had him moving first.

This isn’t ideal because if we maxed out all of these heroes Speed.

Nethril would be last because he is the slowest of the 4.

In order for Nethril to go first, You would need him to have super amazing gear.

The other heroes wouldn’t have best quality gear which is what is happening here!

TSwift uses Nethril in her Clan Boss Nightmare Team.

TSwift has put all her efforts into making Nethril gear very good!

TSwift wanted to help her team do well vs. Clan Boss.

This is why her move orders are not ideal.

TSwift knows that her move orders are not best.

TSwift is Gold 4 player she knows she needs to tweak her move orders.

She just hasn’t gotten around to it.

She been focusing on her CB team vs. Arena team.

So now we know why TSwift move orders are not ideal!

She hasn’t gotten a chance to perfect her Arena heroes gear.

The set up she is going to go for is the one I mention.

So let’s explain why.

Lyssandra has the highest speed 110.

Lyssandra fills Turn Meter helping other hero’s move faster.

Having this hero go first helps speed up the rest of the team.

Makes sense?

Big Un is 2nd fastest hero on the team with 104 speed.

Big Un will do crazy amount of damage.

Having this hero go 2nd helps take out the enemy team.

Makes sense?

Nethril should go 3rd, but his base speed is 94?

Why should Nethril go 3rd if Cruetraxa has higher speed at 99?

Shouldn’t Cruetraxa go 3rd? NOPE! WHY?

This is were the skills come into play.

Nethril does an All enemy attack (AOE)

Cruetraxa can only hit 1 target (Single Target Assassin).

The reason you want Nethril faster is because his AOE might kill off several heroes.

Big Un + Nethril = Mass Enemy Hits killing heroes in the process.

Any heroes left standing are often going to be very Tanky defensive heroes which were able to handle the previous waves.

Cruetraxa comes in with her Ignore Defense to take those specific heroes out!

You don’t want Cruetraxa to go ahead of Nethril because she might go after wrong hero.

Let’s give an example so you can understand.

Let’s say the enemy has 4 different hero’s

1- Attack hero

1- Support hero

1- HP hero

1- Defense hero

When Big Un does his AOE Hit, the Attack hero should die.

The support + HP hero might suffer half damage.

The defense hero will be un phased with 1/4th Damage or less.

The defense hero will laugh at you because he is built like brick house!

When Nethril does his AOE Hit, the Support + HP hero should die.

Leaving only 1 standing!

This is the hero you want Cruetraxa to hit!

Cruetraxa skill ignores defense which is specialized to deal with these types of heroes.

Now if Cruetraxa goes before Nethril, Cruetraxa might get distracted by the Support or HP hero.

The AI might have her hit them instead of the one we want her to go after.

Hopefully, this information can help shed some light on Arena Defense move order strategies.

We got to see an amazing set up by TSwift.

We got to see improvement ideas to make TSwift team even better!

Even in Gold 4 Arena, you can do improvements

I think it is wonderful!

LADIES & GENTLEMEN, I HAVE A SURPRISE IN STORE FOR YOU!

I have screenshots of my Gold 2 Arena teaming taking out people!

People might read my guide here and think I don’t actually practice what I preach!

You would be wrong!

The strategy I use in my own team are no different.

You can see in the picture a Gold 2 player attacking me with 90k Team Power - Full 60 team - 3 Legendary.

You can see in the background Victories I have been winning with my set up.

And here is my below set up:

How can a 60k power team beat a 90k power team?

How can Team full of Legendaries lose to team full of Rares?

How can Team full of 60 heroes lose to team full of 50 heroes?

We already know all the answers don’t we?

I have explained them in detail.

  • We want heroes who Revives —————-> Shaman for newer players ———> I’m using Gorgorab
  • We want heroes who Heals ——————-> WarPriest for newer players ——-> I’m using Apothecary
  • We want heroes with Counter Attack ——-> Executioner for newer players —-> I’m still using Executioner.
  • We want heroes with Status Condition —--> Jizoh for newer players ————-> I’m using Seducer
  • My Seducer has Freeze set on him.
  • You can put a Freeze set on Jizoh.

All the elements of a successful defense are before your eyes.

All I have done is replaced my beginner heroes with better version’s of heroes doing similar roles.

I got the better version’s as I slowly progressed in the game!

All the heroes are working together as a team!

The team synergies between the units helps the overall team be successful!

The guy attacking me was under intense pressure!

  • I’m reviving the heroes who die.
  • I’m healing the heroes who are low HP.
  • I’m attacking on my turn.
  • I’m counter-Attacking on enemy turn.
  • I’m freezing the enemy heroes.
  • I’m stunning the enemy heroes.
  • I’m sleeping the enemy heroes.

My team is only level 50 + not all the gear is fully upgraded.

Image what is going to happen when my team is lvl 60 + fully maxed out.

If you are easy target, people will attack & rob all your Arena points.

If you are hard target, people will look for someone else to Attack 90% of the time.

Give yourself a chance to be successful!

You don’t need dozens of Legendary heroes to be successful.

The guy who Attack me had several Legendaries.

Was he successful? NOPE!

We have the screenshots to prove it.

If I can do it, you can do it to peeps!

Quick Update:

I reached Gold 4 in Arena.

I took a screenshot of a different style of team which I want to talk about.

The team I want to share with you today is different than what I normally show you.

The team I want to share with you today is the Arena Meta.

The team I want you to look at is by Archangel137

  • Abriter
  • Gorgorab
  • Zargala
  • Galek

The team composition is following:

Leader: Speed Aura <—————————————-—-Abriter is doing this role in ArchAngel team

1st move: Turn Meter Filler <———————————-Abriter is doing this role in ArchAngel team

2nd move: Increase Attack <———————————-Gorgorab is doing this role in ArchAngel team

3rd move: Decrease Enemy Defense  <——————--Zargala is doing this role in ArchAngel team

4th move: AOE Damage Dealer  <—————————-Galek is doing this role in ArchAngel team

^^ The Above Team Composition is the set up we all consider to be as the META.

The word META means MOST EFFECTIVE TACTIC AVAILABLE.

This is the cream of the crop set up which hundreds of thousands of people use.

The set up is often used in Arena Offense teams.

Every, once in a while, Players will place the above set up on Arena Defense.

The set up is designed to be extremely fast & hit extremely hard.

The draw back is the team often lacks survivability.

They focus on Speed - Attack - Crit Rate - Crit Damage

The result is there HP & Defense often suffers.

The majority of the time HP & Defense becomes irrelevant to them.

The reason why is because there aim is to move faster vs. enemy + kill enemy before the enemy kills them.

They don’t need HP or Defense in order to achieve this.

They put all there hopes into Offense!

Players recognized the above META.

They started making ANTI-META set ups designed to take advantage of the above strategy.

This is why Tanky defensive teams where created!

Tanky teams are built in such a way to absorb the enemy hit.

Than they try to heal off any of the damage caused by Rival team.

Than they counter attack back until the enemy team loses.

THE REASON THIS MATTERS IS BECAUSE YOU WILL NEED TO ADOPT THE META SET UP OR CREATE AN ANTI-META SET UP.

If you don’t, you will lose.

All other strategies drop off in long run.

They don’t survive.

Pick you poison my friends, META or ANTI-META!

What shall it be? Or do you chose both?

The decision has always been up to you.

Quick Update:

I have a nice picture of an Arena Defense Team which has 30k power more vs. me!

I totally annihilated my opponent!

67k power vs. 92k power

Don’t be fooled by power differences! 😎

My Opponent is using a fast pace Arena Defense.

The problem is I was faster!  🤣

10 second win!

The Arena Rewards for all our hard work are mildly useful.

I like Void Shard, Tomes, & few Gems.

However, I think Gold 4 players shouldn’t get 4 star gear at all.

I have sold every gear from Arena so far.

The game doesn’t drop 5 star or 6 star pieces.

All the pieces I get are 4 star & the few 5 star pieces I do get are Flat stat garbage.

Yeah, It is a struggle.

Quick Update:

I wanted to share some more pictures of Arena Beginner Defense teams I have run across.

The above picture is showing Gold 2 Arena Defenses.

I like to share Sample teams from different Arena Tiers - I think it is good to see a mixture.

A lot of players in Gold 4 have Epics & Legendaries.

However, you can still reach Gold Tier with Rares.

It could be helpful to see what other players are using to improve yourself.

I would like to share with you the above screenshot so you can see a common beginner set up.

You will notice the following heroes:

Leader: SpiritHost - 10% Speed Aura

1st move: Apothecary or Diabolist - Turn Meter Fill

2nd move: SpiritHost - Increase Attack 50%

3rd move: WarMaiden - Decrease Enemy Defense

4th move: Kael - AOE Damage Dealer

It is one thing to read a guide that tells you how to be successful!

It is another thing to actually see pictures of the heroes in the guide being used in Arena Defense Gold Tier!

There are dozens of different set ups for Arena Defense!

There is no perfect set up!

This is what makes the game wonderful - We can make a set up we like based on heroes we have!

I have another very good Arena Defense set up to show you people!

I would explain why HellHades team is so good!

However, I will let HellHades tell you himself by linking you his YouTube Video!

HellHades tells you his thinking process on why he made the above team!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_K5dtMV0QrI

You can learn how a Resist Team functions!

You can even see it in action!

You see - not every team has to be fast!

You can win being slow!

It just takes a well thought out set up.

No, it doesn't take any kind of "well thought out setup."  It takes spending thousands of dollars on the app, so you have the gear and champions for a composition like that.

The problem is that resistance only makes sense in arena.  Anywhere else, the stat just doesn't make much sense most the time.  As such, someone needs to have enough legendary and/or epic champions that are viable in arena to be able to gear them specifically for arena.  Not many players have that ability, because most need their top champions for other things as well.

In addition, look at his stats.  His gear is all 5 and 6 star.  His Great Hall is clearly maxed on everything.  Those stats on his champions are insane.  If he invested the same into a speed team, it would tear his to shreds. All they need is enough accuracy to rip through his resistance.  Most people can't do it simply because they don't have the gear.  But, with comparable gear, a speed team would still have the advantage due to them making first strike.

It has absolutely nothing to do with skill.  It's just about what he bought in game.  For most players, even whales, it's impractical to go that route.  I guarantee he spent no less than at least $3k on the app.  He put on a nice performance with his video, but that's all it is - a performance.  He never claimed that video was a "guide," and I think it's because he knows very well most people cannot do what he did.
