They seem to have more ships and units as prizes, is that true?

How do you attack them?

What is the optimal strategy to take them, losing the fewest ships and units, attack with Armada or with Fleet?

These are the 5 unit types you'll find in safe havens or black corsairs in the lighthouse. Caravels and Sea Forts use regular units that we win or can build.

When you click on them it shows you what they're defense strength is against different unit types. You use those defense stats to figure out what to sending offense troops to Safe Havens or Black Corsairs. When doing caravels or Sea Forts you look at the unit types and you can do the same thing but generally the two other types are relatively easier to defeat. We all have different ideas on what units work best so thats on you.

If you are talking about Campaign Adventures then click this (and click the Blue unit strength numbers for a full breakdown)

Campaigns are special missions that appear after unlocking every 4 levels of Prizes
It is best to complete them during XP Tournaments, not Prize Ransack

It makes no difference which units you send, so use the cheapest (even dark corsairs). and the rewards are good, including Brethren and Dread Fleet units
Try to attack them in small waves to avoid wasting troops
Always make sure you send offense to red, and send defense to green (but you can send dark corsairs to both)

The reason it makes no difference whether you send armada, fleet, mercs or pirates is because Adventures have the same power against each unit

* Only Dark Corsairs, if you're patient enough. ;-)

Porto Bello is only the second adventure with 3240 offense and defense

50 dark corsair have 3360 defense so could easily complete it, then get your friends to visit your haven and revive them all for free

Even easier if you have 70 dark corsairs and high level bastion bonus

I would rather snigger at Icy's answer, but I am too much of a Lady :)

"sending offense troops to Safe Havens"

And you BOTH missed the point that OP was referring to Adventures, not Prizes

The least expensive way but longest way to beat adventures is dark corsairs. But the max you can produce on your own without friends clicking them on your haven is 23. To me spending the 20 pearls to increase to 70 is a waste of pearls. But thats my opinion. Get to 50 send a wave then wait and go again. This method takes forever but using units that are produced in the tavern can be used on prizes to help with your bank and getting good payouts.
