battle report: is there a flaw in calculating all bonuses?

Dear Plarium,

Is there a flaw in your battle calculation/algorithm?

I attacked via raid somebody who had roughly 21,000 Schooners in his port with 21,000 Brethren Frigates.

My offense was: 21261 Brethren Frigates * 1807.4 = 38345798.4 (38.35 M) and lost 54 % of my fleet 11480 ships (20.75 M offense), so the defender had only a slightly higher defense (39 - 41 M).

Defender lost 3 Scallywags, 5 Gunner's Mates, 5 Redcoats, 12 Bonnie, 1 Sapper and 9305 Schooner in this fight.

My losses were 11480 * 1807.4 = 20.75 M thats 54 %, so defender losses should be roughly 46 % or 20.75 M * 0.46 = 17.68 M.

If 9305 Schooner making a lost defense of 17.68 M, that is 1899.5 defense per Schooner. Well the Schooner has a basis defense of 100. So all bonuses together has to be 1899.5 % or a factor of 18.99 x at last, how is that possible?

Normally all bonuses will or should be summed to the baseline defense value. The defender is a big player so I took the maximum values:

20 % bonus bastion (max)

380 % technology (max)

5 % active presidio bonus (max)

50 % 7 days offense-defense item (max)

5 % gold mine (max)

5 % lumber yard (max)

235 % fortification (I counted roughly 23,105 haven defense bonus, rounded it up to 23,500 that should give 235 %)

_____

700 % + 100 % (from the baseline) makes a factor of 8.0 x (the maximum could be still 10 -30 % off, relic not incl. (5-10 %), alchemy should count).

100 defense (baseline) * 8.0 = 800 defense per Schooner, that makes 9305 Schooner * 800 = 7.44 M. With 800 each Schooner defenders losses should be over 22,000 Schooners (17.68 M / 800) instead of 9305.

The defender had probably something about 21,000 Schooners that would make 16.80 M in defense but my offense shouldn't be defeated then.

1899.5 (calculated defense) * 21,000 = 39.89 M, that would beat my offense and explains the result.

If the defender had more Schooner with a lower factor, the defender should lose more ships. If the defender had much more Schooner and a higher defense (50-80 M) then I should lose more ships and I wouldn't lose only 54 % of my ships.

Even if the fortification is multiplying all bonuses (465 % (without fortification) + 100 % baseline) that would be only a factor of 13.3 x (5.65 * 2.35) instead of 18.99 x.

Is it possible that the fortification was added twice? First summed to the bonus and then additionally multiplied? (8.0 * 2.35 = 18.8 x)???

That would be scary because a gunboat with 400 baseline could end up with 4,500 - 4,800 in a haven if all bonuses are max and that would equal a max leveled Juggernaut with 4,500 - 4,600, but much cheaper and faster to build.

The PVP points were calculated correctly on both sides based on the displayed losses.

All my bonuses are only summed to my baseline and none is multiplied, my numbers matches the theory , I don't get a benefit from my fortification during raiding (obviously) so I don't see this influence.

Plarium can you please double check your algorithm or explains how it is possible to achieve with an offense unit such a defense number. Somehow I just understand only parts of your algorithm or is there a secret bonus during a raid for the defender but not for the attacker?

If I overlooked something please let me know. Yes I know some number are estimates but overall it shouldn't be so far off.

Best,

Mel

OK, this took some chatting, but we resolved it in private, with huge help from the Support.

The bottom line is: yes, a well fortified haven with highly upgraded off units (remember: the top levels significantly improve offensive units' def), plus items/relics/prestige/Bastion bonus/potions/... can indeed result in multipliers similar to the ones implied in the first post of this topic. Sadly, the exact mechanics and formulae are Plarium's closely kept secret, so they are not giving out any details.
