Scattered across Darkshine, Hamlets are a new way to gather and earn Resources in Plarium's Stormfall: Age of War. As with Settlements, you'll have to capture and hold these Hamlets in order to collect the precious Resources within. However, there are a few important differences worth bearing in mind.
In order to capture Hamlets, you'll need both offensive and defensive Units. Once the offensive Units are have successfully secured the Hamlet they will return to your Catacombs, leaving the defensive Units to guard it and gather Resources.
The higher your Units’ carrying capacity, the more Resources they can recover from each Hamlet. You can increase the amount of Resources you can collect by either upgrading your Maximum Settlements and Hamlets in the Rune Tree, or Discovering the Lost Art of Dominion.
Another difference between Hamlets and Settlements lies in the way you reinforce them. You are only allowed to reinforce Hamlets you yourself captured. No more ambushes and nasty surprises at seemingly abandoned Hamlets.
If you so wish, you can also attack other players' Hamlet to interrupt their collection efforts. It won't let you steal any Resources, but you will earn PVP points for successful attacks.
