Castle Defenses

Why Build Fortifications and Improvements?

Building up your Castle with Fortifications and Improvements adds to your Castle Defense Bonus. For every 100 points of Castle Defense Bonus you have, the Defensive Units stationed in your Castle get +1% to their stats. This bonus could be the difference between victory and defeat when your Castle is attacked! But remember, you must station your Defensive Units inside your Castle for them to benefit from this bonus.

How Do I Build Fortifications and Improvements?

Go to the “Construction” menu and select the “Fortifications” tab or the “Improvements” tab. Make sure you have enough Sapphires to buy the upgrades you want. Fortifications and Improvements can only be built with Sapphires. All Fortifications and Improvements are built instantly.

What Are Fortifications?

Fortifications add to your Castle Defense Bonus by making your castle harder to attack. There are six types of Fortification:

  • Walls
  • Towers
  • Gates
  • Ballistae
  • Catapults
  • Sentries

All types of Fortifications increase your Castle Defense Bonus, except Sentries.

  • Walls can only be built on the perimeter of your Castle. When constructing Walls, a green line will show you where they can be placed.
  • Towers and Gates are placed on the same green line as Walls. Like Walls they increase your Castle Defense Bonus, but unlike Walls they can have Ballistae, Catapults and Sentries built on top of them. Towers and Gates provide more Castle Defense Bonus than Walls, but you can only build up to 12 Towers and 4 Gates.
  • Ballistae and Catapults can only be placed on Towers and Gates.
  • Sentries can only be placed on Towers and Gates. Instead of Castle Defense Bonus, Sentries provide Intelligence Bonus. The Intelligence Bonus makes enemy Spying more likely to fail.

Can Fortifications Be Upgraded?

By researching the Fortification Lost Arts, you will unlock improved versions of the six types of Fortification. The Lost Art Level 1 Fortifications unlocks the basic types. Levels 2, 3, 4, and 5 give access to increasingly more powerful versions of those six basic types. Once you have unlocked a higher level Fortification Lost Art, you can upgrade your existing Fortifications by entering Editing mode and choosing “Upgrade” from the menu.

What Are Improvements?

Improvements are decorations you may place within your Castle to increase its Castle Defense Bonus. Castle Guards are also a type of Improvement.

How Do Castle Guards Work?

Castle Guards, in addition to providing Castle Defense Bonus, will fight alongside your Defensive Units when your Castle is attacked.

Castle Guards can be killed in battle like your normal Defensive Units, but unlike normal Defensive Units, your Castle Guards can be revived as many times as you need. To revive a Castle Guard, click on it. It will display how much time it will take for the Guard to revive.

Your Friends can also visit your Castle and revive one of your Castle Guards by clicking on it, once per day per Friend.

The types of Castle Guard, from least powerful to most powerful, are:

  • Immortals
  • Crusader
  • Belrathian Guard
  • Troll
  • Hydra
  • Red Dragon

Stormfall Troll

There is also a special type of Castle Guard, the Summoner, that does not fight. Summoners, like all Castle Guards, provide Castle Defense Bonus, but instead of fighting alongside your Defensive Units, Summoners increase the speed at which your fallen Castle Guardians revive, and speeds up repair on your Altar of Weor. Each Summoner you have increases these speeds by 5%. You may purchase up to 5 Summoners.

Remember these tips and invest in Fortifications and Improvements to ensure that your Castle is always well protected!
