Picture this: you conquer Persian Positions, track your army’s losses, get ready for a big payout at your highest non-quest position and… get a mini reward instead. Has this ever happened to you? It can really mess up your day when this happens and, on top of that, your next highest position is 10 levels lower. But what if I told you that there is a way to eliminate this frustration all together. Would you be interested?
Keeping track of the Units you lose is vital if you want to obtain a big payout but there is another way to ensure success every time. It is called Unit Number Tracking. Your Unit number is located to the left of your Experience bar, right next to your City Defense Bonus number – it is the one with a Spartan Helmet with a number under it. Found it? Good. Here is how to use this strategy: when you get your big payout—let's say that you have a full reward payout of 3,700 Thureophoros and 1,600 Sarissophoros Units—look at the number below the Spartan helmet: the number under it should now say 21,500 Units, which includes your payout. So you add up the total number of Units you get as a reward, which is 5,300, and subtract it that from your new number, which is 21,500, and the result is 16,200. That means 16,200 is your "base" or Reward number.
Continue to conquer more Positions in the future and keep using similar or higher level Units. To do this, spend some Trojan Units and Spartan Promachos so you use both heavy and light Units to make up your losses. When the value of your total Units lost are such that you are due to receive a reward, which means you have paid the bank plus interest, look at your Unit number total as well. Make sure you are down to at least 16,200 Units, go down as low as 15,500 if you used lights and heavy Units to make up your losses, and track how many of them you have lost to make sure you are ready for the payout. You can keep track of the number of light and heavy Units on Aaron's spreadsheet. So now you are down to 15,500 Units and your Units lost math says you are due for a payout. In this case, go to your highest non-quest Position and collect your maximum Reward.
I have never been wrong yet using this method of double-checking. Try it and see if it works for you.
