Save them all! Rubies will prove very useful to multiply your offense and defense.
In the Smuggler's Den, you can buy something called the Dread Fleet. The Dread Fleet will boost the offensive or defensive pirates that you own up to 30 times. But Dread Fleet does not work alone.
Read the description of each Dread Fleeter, and see the units they support. The first Dread Fleeter you may want to buy is the Captain Flint. As soon as you have 50 Marauders or Buccaneers, go get yourself a Captain Flint.
Sending Captain Flint with 50 Buccaneers will strike as hard as sending 100 Buccaneers with no Captain Flint. The same will happen with all the other Dread Fleeters, if you have the crew to go along with them then buy them and use them.
During the first 30 levels, you can save some 2500 Rubies or so. Use them wisely.
Another thing you don't want to miss is the Royal Cannon, you can build this one in Construction -- resources for 1000 Rubies. Then you upgrade it 6 times for free (each upgrade takes 24 hours) and at level 6 it will boost your gold and wood production by 25%
The tasks that pop at the left of your screen will guide you throughout the game, and you will be getting good rewards of them. The higher the level, the more resources you need, and the better the reward.
In order not to miss any of the rewards, try not to do things before you are asked to do them, because if you do things ahead of time you won't collect the rewards.
If you need more rum, you can upgrade 3 Distilleries as high as you want to upgrade them to meet your resource needs, so that when the game asks you to upgrade 4 Distilleries to level X you will need to upgrade only one to collect the prize. The same thing happens with Lumber yards and gold mines, just upgrade a maximum of 3 until the game asks you to go for the 4th, once you have upgraded the 4th, you can upgrade the remaining ones.
Always aim to produce at least twice the gold and wood production... if you are producing 200 Gold per hour, you should be producing 400 Rum per hour, gold and wood should be balanced.
Alliances are not useful if your ally is 24 hours away. You need to ally with your surrounding neighbors. You will receive news of their scouting and raiding; take advantage of them for your own raiding.
Try to spot strong players, talk to them and ask for alliance, especially if they belong to another BH. You don't need to make alliances within the BH, your brothers are already allies.
Then you can team up with your allies to take down stronger enemies and for fast resource and sketch trading.
If they are very good and strong players, then talk to them about your brotherhood, maybe you'll convince them to join us.
Easy... Go raid one (preferably one lower level than yours, your own level if you followed tip number 1 should be safe) look around for signs of coiners... if you spot a coiner... Don’t mess with him... You will most likely lose, better try to make friends with them.
As soon as your raid is successful and you have killed all the defending pirates, blockade with only 1 bonnie.
If the owner doesn't liberate their haven, that haven is abandoned and yours to claim in the home of Hard Eliminators. You can either farm from it or you can raid it once a day. If someone else raids it, just re siege it.
Look around for a full horizontal line of havens levels 22 or 23 that have no haven name, they were put there by the game developers for everyone to raid, just go ahead and raid them they will give you lots and lots of resources, If you manage to siege some 20 of these, you raid ten each day and will get full resources of each raid: 30 - 50K resources total.
