I hit the icon on my phone and can see the beginning of them but can't see more or respond.

The Forum inbox is different than in-game messages :)
If you have android then you can GameHQ app to access the forum.

I don't see my messages from upper right corner of forums page now I want to read them. Had no issue reading forums them selves.

Lord Viticus, unfortunately, PMs don't work via browser version of Forum now :(
Devs are aware of this issue and they're working on it.
Meanwhile, you can follow Lord Chascon's advice and install Game HQ. It's a mobile application for Forum :)
